Tech Square Tries: Escorpion

Escorpion, a Mexican restaurant, is on the corner of 5th st. and Peachtree St. NE, about an 8 minute walk from Tech Square. It has plenty of seats inside and out, with a large bar and shotgun shell Christmas lights.

For this review Tech Square ATL invited Dan McCarley from the community to give his opinions below.

Dan works on the ATDC floor as the Technology Implementation Manger at Gozio Health, a navigation platform for hospitals placing location-based information at users’ fingertips, assuring they will never get lost. Dan is ex-military and travels a lot for work, but loves calling Atlanta home.

We started off with their classic Escorpion Margarita and a Puebla Unida Cocktail. Cutting to the chase, Dan says that this margarita is one of the best he's ever had.  The Puebla Unida uses mezcal as it's main ingredient and has a smokey flavor, but is easy to drink.  Definitely order one of these drinks if you come for the first time.

Nice, crispy chips and salsa were provided shortly after and tasted great.

We then ordered the chicken enchiladas and the gringo tacos plate.  The taco plate was well received and would definitely be ordered again.  You might need to add some hot sauce to the enchiladas however, in order to give it some extra flavor.

Compared to other related restaurants near by (Rreal Tacos, Takorea), Escorpion would be the place you would more likely bring clients/friends from out of town to have a nice meal, or to have some celebratory drinks.
