MarTechAI Simplifies the Demands of Marketing for Small Business Owners

With over a decade of experience bringing together computer science and marketing technology, Zach Batastini, the Georgia founder of Derail Logic, knew firsthand about the challenges of navigating multiple marketing systems to manage websites, campaigns, and analytics.

“Most small mom and pop businesses don’t have the tools or budget for larger marketing campaigns,” said Batastini.

To help business owners focus on what they do best, Batastini created an AI-powered marketing workspace, MartechAI, which brings core marketing tools together into a single platform and is now open for beta access.

“I built MartechAI to support the growth of businesses that might not have large marketing budgets,” said Batastini.

A Focus on the Needs of Small Businesses’ Growth

Drawing on his 13 years of first-hand experience working with marketing tools, Batastini curated the best and most useful features for MartechAI.

From organizing tasks to content creation and analytics, the streamlined workspace and dashboard enable businesses to pair their unique needs and goals with MartechAI’s capabilities.

What started as a single AI tool has grown into MartechAI, which is already supporting small businesses in Georgia and beyond. The platform is being used by a recreation company to create social media posts, update websites, and send out forms to customers, and by a moving company to operationalize their workflows in MartechAI instead of Excel.

As MartechAI continues to evolve to support businesses, Batastini continually seeks to update and add features to meet their needs.

One idea on Batastini’s to-do list as he continues to develop features is to build an event management component to support companies as they prepare for and attend trade shows.

How AI Insights Can Help Businesses Focus on What They Do Best

The power of MartechAI is that for someone who is totally new to marketing, you are guided through several initial prompts so you can start sharing your story and updates with customers, in your brand’s own voice.

The prompts, which aim to understand business and marketing goals, run on local AI, meaning a business’s information is not shared beyond the MartechAI system.

With public AI, such as GPT and Gemini, business information is not private. Batastini highlighted that while public AI models excel at creativity, local AI systems ensure that business information, such as a business’s CRMs, remains private.

Batastini’s solution, integrated into MartechAI, is to use different AI tools for the appropriate tasks. When most up-to-date information and trends are needed for creative brainstorming, image generation, or content creation, a public AI tool is accessed. But local AI is used in components that handle sensitive business information, ensuring nothing is shared outside the workspace container.

After the initial onboarding, ideas start to emerge, including the ability to create plans for future marketing campaigns.

Powered by these AI-driven insights, the brand voice of small businesses is amplified from existing content to create emails, social media posts, and customizable AI-generated images.

“For small businesses, the magic of the AI insights comes in with the ‘I don’t know what to do, or write about this month’, where owners can go to the “Idea Lab” component in MartechAI to brainstorm and plan content.

From optimizing SEO and scanning Reddit for publishing ideas to analyzing reports, the more tasks businesses conduct in MartechAI, the more the AI-driven tools can draw insights to inform future campaigns and activities.

“The heart is the autopilot feature, which reduces complexity and helps small business owners to identify what to do next, such as making specific recommendations for web growth,” said Batastini.

Bringing Together Creativity and Constraints with AI

Batastini describes himself as a “creator, designer, and tinkerer.” MartechAI provides him with an outlet to pair the creativity and constraints inherent in the fields of marketing and technology. When speaking about the use of specific prompts while using different AI tools, Batastini said, “You can do anything with AI if you think to ask, use guardrails such as specifying design requirements, and be clear that the output should stick to your stated plan.”

For the development of MartechAI, Batastini described the process as “A great story about how vibe coding can become something great.”

In terms of what Batastini has enjoyed most about building MartechAI for small businesses, it is “giving a little bit of all the right tools in the right place without the cost. I’m not in it to grow a million-dollar business. My passion is to give small businesses the chance to win.”
