The next chapter in Georgia Tech’s entrepreneurship journey is taking shape at the iconic Biltmore. CREATE-X, the Institute’s flagship entrepreneurship and venture-building program, has officially established its headquarters in the heart of Midtown’s innovation corridor.

Midtown Day gave Atlanta Tech Week a massive pulse, turning Tech Square into a playground for big ideas, chance encounters, and innovation in motion. From sunrise jogs to sunset happy hours, the day captured what makes this district hum: people coming together to build, test, and debate the future.

Georgia Tech is transforming the iconic Biltmore into a dynamic hub of innovation in Tech Square, marking an exciting new chapter for one of Atlanta’s most historic landmarks. In the coming years, the Biltmore will become a powerhouse for tech-driven innovation, academic integration, and entrepreneurial growth.

Located at the heart of Georgia Tech’s research and innovation ecosystem, inside The Biltmore, is the Georgia Tech Office of Corporate Engagement (OCE), the gateway for industry to connect with Georgia Tech’s vast resources, ranging from research to licensing. 

The International Paper Atlanta Innovation Center, located in the Centergy Building of Tech Square, serves as a strategic hub for data science, analytics, and operational innovation across the company’s nationwide mill network. The office focuses on three core areas: equipment health, process and flow optimization, and support for the customer service group serving International Paper’s mills.

Nestled on the fifth floor of Georgia Tech's Technology Square Research Building (TSRB), the mmWave Antennas & Arrays Lab is silently innovating in wireless communication. Under the leadership of Dr. Nima Ghalichechian, the lab is at the forefront of developing technologies that promise to revolutionize how we connect and communicate.​

Last Friday, for its 10th anniversary, Home Depot’s Innovation Lab, OrangeWorks, opened its doors to the Tech Square community for a special open house. Attendees got a behind-the-scenes look at the company’s cutting-edge research and development efforts.

ATDC’s Entrepreneur’s Night has become a cornerstone for Atlanta’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, offering young startups a chance to connect, learn, and grow. Launched in response to a strong demand for more networking opportunities, this monthly event provides a platform for startups to engage with fellow entrepreneurs, industry professionals, and established innovators.

Underground Atlanta has long been a space imbued with cultural and historical significance. Thanks to the Public Art Futures Lab, it’s also a hub for innovation, where art and technology intersect to reimagine creative possibilities. The Lab’s Artist-in-Residence (AiR) program stands at the heart of this initiative, fostering an environment where artists can experiment, collaborate, and push the boundaries of their craft.

The Technology Square Research Building (TSRB) at Georgia Tech houses two invaluable community maker spaces that embody Tech Square's ethos of collaboration: the IPaT Prototyping Lab and Craft Lab. These spaces create hubs of interdisciplinary collaboration, skill-building, and innovation among students, faculty, artists, startups, and external partners.

Launched in 1999, Georgia's Yamacraw initiative positioned the state as a tech leader in broadband and semiconductors, ultimately leading to the creation of Tech Square as an innovation hub. Nearly 25 years later, experts like Georgia Tech's Professor Farrokh Ayazi believe a new Yamacraw-like effort is needed to revitalize Atlanta's hardware tech scene and restore its former momentum.

The Kendeda Building, certified under the Living Building Challenge, sets a high bar for sustainability with features like net positive energy and water use, composting toilets, and a rooftop garden. Its thoughtful design, abundant natural light, and open spaces foster collaboration, making it a hub for education, research, and community engagement.

Georgia Tech houses a unique educational initiative within the Scheller School of Business known as TI:GER, short for Technological Innovation: Generating Economic Results. TI:GER has garnered acclaim for its approach to fostering entrepreneurial spirit and technological advancement, with its heavy emphasis on group work and collaboration.
